Aaarggh! New comment features on this site

[ #34639 ]

Argh! How do I disable the new feature on this site where comments appear and disappear on the page when you click on their titles? It's very annoying, especially when whatever clever CSS/Javascript thing it is that's doing it screws up other parts of the display in Firefox.

And no, "upgrade Firefox" is not a useful answer. Not only do I not want to, it won't stop the feature itself being annoying as hell.

  • Not really a great solution but if you logout, you'll get the standard style comments.

Personally, I much prefer the new system but I'm not sure why they took away the ability to disable it.
    • Especially seeing as your comment options page leads you to believe you can disable the abomination in favor of the 'normal' discussion style. But it lies.
      • Hmm. Nothing about the site has changed for me in recent memory.

        • I have my comment settings set to 'normal' (the other selection is 'Slashdot's New Discussion System Testing') and I started receiving the new awful looking comment system about a week ago for some reason.

Ah, it would appear to be a bug [perl.org].
  • Go into preferences, select comments, change Discussion Style from "Slashdot's New Discussion System Testing" to "Normal".

    • Mine was set to normal. I had to turn on new discussion features, then turn it off again.
      • That did the trick. Now I have my normal sane looking comments back. Thanks.
