Icon

[ #13776 ]
I was chatting a bit with one of those evil Python programmers, and he happened to mention a language called Icon, which I hadn't heard of before. I guess Icon has been around for quite a while and is still maintained (latest release was April, 2003).

It actually looks kinda neat. Sorta like Pascal meets Python meets Ruby.

  • Some of my code is in fact still in the distribution, and I'm listed as a contributor.

I like a lot of things about Icon, except that when I last looked at it, it was the opposite of Perl with respect to "gluing in" to the environment.

  • Hmmm.. Icon my compiler class was in Icon. The only time I'd ever have to use that language.
