Golf

[ #3315 ]

I've never been much into obfuscation and golfing, especially as most of the time I see the smart tricks but forget them the next second. However today I had stuff to do that I really must do (which is why it's almost 0400 and I'm still here...) but really didn't want to do...

So I ended up rolling up my first Golf for the current Perl Golf Contest. Of course, I put myself amongst the beginners (I wouldn't stand a chance against the pros) and I'm happy to say that my solution currently rates 82.39, which puts me in 19th position :-) I guess that's not too bad for a first stab.

Now I just hope I haven't acquired a taste for this...

  • I would have told you before : "Stay away from Golf and Obfu"

But I see it's too late...

All I can do, now, is to warn you; prepare yourself to :
    • Spend far too many hours to reduce a script from 63 to 62 chars.
    • Write code totally useless
    • Find beauty in linenoise alike code
    • Try to understand Book's obfu (an probably fail ;-)

And, oh, I forgot to tell : Welcome in the golf/obfu brotherhood !
    :-)
