I Thought I Knew What "Functional" Meant
From a language perspective, we seem to be getting closer and closer to a functional language. Ruby is just one step in that direction.... Domain specific languages will be unleashed, and driven from things like IDEA’s language workbench and programming languages and concepts in Ruby. This will take us closer to functional programming languages than we’ve ever been.
When I am emperor, the penalty for using words without knowing what they mean will be a severe beating.

I can smell the influence of the Java ("We standardized and then invented everything you could possibly ever want!") and the PHP ("I like to use words! Words are fun! Equestrian callipygous phylactery! That means web site!") converts.
