CD jewel case inserts

[ #6564 ]
Dear All,

So what's everyone's favorite ways of making CD jewel case inserts? I don't mean a CD case, I mean just the little thing you slip in the plastic jewel case. Do people just use a little MSWord template or something?

  • My ex got me some software as a gift called "Sure Thing CD Labeler" or something like that. It works pretty well. I don't have a color printer, so my options are limited, but it does what I want. That type of software is generally inexpensive - usually $15-20.
  • Easy CD Creator came with the Windows machine I got off the shelf at Best Buy, and it's got a little program that handles it. The nice part about it is that it will create the track list on the print material based on the CD's actual track list.

  • Well, sometimes I use cdlabelgen which is pretty good for making labels for music CDs (I have a bit of an etree [etree.org] obsession [etree.org]). I used to use Microsoft Publisher with a template of my own design, but I lost the master somewhere sometime and never retained the inserts I made.

  • Illustrator comes with a set of templates for CD artwork. Measuring an insert, then recreating one in your favorite Photo editing tool also works.
