Welcome to the yapc section of use Perl. We have a post for each item on the schedule; feel free to discuss, ask questions, or whatever. If you are a presenter and want some more information (a synopsis, a link) put here, let us know.
I have launched the yapc.tv website, which is intended to collect videos from Perl events we all organize.
I am not quite sure what will it be in a month of a year, but currently I am (very slowly) adding videos that were made at YAPC::Europe 2008 in Copenhagen, starting from lightning talks.
There are some ideas how to make video recodings more cool (all current ones suck in different aspects). I am going to implement one brilliant idea at Italian Perl Workshop in September if the organizers allow me do that :-)
Special thanks to Henrik Tougaard, who had presented me a tripod to replace one I forget at home.
By the way, perl.tv domain was already registered, but I find yapc.tv name very nice.
P. S. If anyone can offer of suggest hosting where I could freely put large FLV files, please let me know. The problem is that foreign traffic is free for me untill it is less than traffic which goes inside Russia. Google, YouTube, Vimeo etc. are quite good but there I will not be able to manipulate video transformations as I wish.
Last couple of days I was in rush with gathering more reasons to host YAPC Europe in Moscow.
And here are our 13 reasons!
This is a reminder that the YAPC::NA 2009 Call for Venue will be closing in less than a month. If you plan on trying to host YAPC::NA 2009 and you haven't started on your bid, you'd better get to it! The deadline for submissions this year is June 1st (as we would like to announce the 2009 venue at this year's YAPC::NA). You can get all of the details and see the Call for Venue posting on The Perl Foundation's blog.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jeremy Fluhmann (fluhmann at perlfoundation dot org).
The silence has been broken! We have published the first newsletter leading up to YAPC::EU 2008, throwing some light on the things that are going on behind the scenes.
Read about the schedule layout, Perl training, job fair and sponsorships in our newsletter.
And remember, the talk submission deadline is drawing nearer! Submit your talks by May 25.
There is also a news feed.

Some things to note:
If you are a speaker, DO NOT pay for the conference unless you really really want to. We will be passing out a coupon code sometime in the next few weeks so that you can properly register.
Also, if you are wanting to book on-campus accommodations you'll have to wait a week or so to reserve those; however, you can register and pay for the conference now to take advantage of early bird pricing. The housing registration system will be available very soon. The maintainers of ACT (the system we use to manage the conference) are working hard to create a more robust purchasing component of ACT that will make booking housing easier this year. A lot of this work will be done at next week's ACT hack-a-thon. Please join all of the ACT Hackers in making ACT an even better system for managing YAPC's around the world.
And finally, be sure to get the word out. We want to make this one of the best YAPC::NA's to date and to do that we need attendees! Tell your friends. Tell your boss. Tell your local PM group or LUG. YAPC::NA 2008 is almost here!
A full and complete application should then be sent to the same address prior to the deadline for applications, which is June 30, 2008. The YAPC::Europe Venue Committee will inform applicants by July 31, 2008 if their proposal was chosen. The public announcement of the location for the 2009 conference will be announced during the 2008 conference in Copenhagen.
For more information about the requirements for hosting a conference, you may want to refer to the YAPC organiser's documentation (administered by TPF) on Google code, or look at the examples of previous European conferences.
Please direct any questions to venue@yapceurope.org, and a member of the committee will endeavour to respond as soon as possible.
Looking forward to your submissions,
Thomas Klausner
on behalf of the YAPC::Europe Venue Committee
