Viale Giovine Italia, 17
We're going to have lighting-talks on the following topics:
- IPW2006 debriefing: how it went, and specially why you shouldn't miss the next one

There's still room for new talks, so we encourage you to submit a proposal.
If you want to have details, or to submit a proposal for a lighting talk, visit http://firenze.pm.org or contact Stefano Rodighiero

Not that I was a prolific author of journals
here, but I decided to try to maintain a personal
blog. There's some evidence I'm not the blogger-type, though.
Anyway, in case you were among my fans (!),
you're probably interested in
Surely you're joking, Mr. Larsen!
. You'll discover
I'm not in the "customize Movable Type"-part of
the blog experience, yet

Finally we managed to bring www.perlmongers.it up again. Not much content, but some (IMO good) ideas about graphic layout and future development.
The Linux Day (a "distributed" italian Linux event) took place last saturday. I spent some time talking about Perl with two or three guys; the situation is quite sad. I'm with gnat about being advocates and not assholes
: I'd just like that people could choose between development languages knowing them, and not following hype. But I think the set I measured was not significative.

You know that is Friday...
...when, at work, you type pub instead of put using ncftp :)

It's a lot of time that Nordest.pm's site is down. Not that you were supposed to notice it (mostly, it hosted a weblog with contents in italian).
The problems started just after switching to a new provider. We spent a period waiting (and hoping) that our provider could manage to solve his problems, but now we're going to move another time. I'm disappointed. I hope we'll soon be able to bring www.perlmongers.it up again.

Second Nordest.pm meeting
Saturday, May 5th, second
meeting has been held.
We met in Venice, one of the most famous italian city (you
know, the city where there's water instead of asphalt, and,
instead of cars, there are boats).
A note of interest was the presence of Mattia Barbon,
wxPerl's author, who explained me his ideas about how to
compile wxPerl under the MacOS X architecture.
You can see some picture here.

Bad news, good news
First, bad news. wxPerl 0.10 compiles on MacOSX, but it doesn't work. Here some of the output during the test phase:
t/1_load............ClassInfo initialization failed 'wxProcess' at /System/Library/Perl/darwin/DynaLoader.pm line 200.
Compilation failed in require at t/1_load.t line 6.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at t/1_load.t line 6.
By the way, this can't really be considered "news": it's well known by wxPerl users.
Now, good news (for me, at least). I posted on Perlmonks a link to some stuff I wrote about Perl, music and creativity. I had good feedback. I hope the same could happen here.
