Worked a few hours on the Python xml build problem at work. The python people are going to have to take it from here...
Yesterday, I worked on server upgrades at work, so I didn't get home until 1:am (I normally get home at 4:pm). Suprisingly, only one thing broke, an automated software build. As it's written in Python (ick ;) ), the Python experts are going to have to look at it. Oh, about the time: I couldn't start working on the server until evening, that's why it took so long. ;)
Needless to say, I didn't get to work on L'ane yesterday. Today looks busy too, but I hope to sneak in a few hours between other things.

I worked on some consulting tasks this afternoon.
I started work on a generic ancestor class for all the Lane*/*.pm stuff. I LOVE oop.
Not much else today...

The biggest competition for my L'ane-time is chat. Since moving to C-U I've become a chat and IM addict.
I don't want cured or anything--I'm just saying...
OH, I'm back to KDE and Konqueror on my Red Hat 8.0 notebook. I LOVE Konqueror. Konqueror ROCKS my world. blah blah blah
I REALLY love the unofficial antialiased text--ROCK ON REDHAT! ;)
The scary thing is I actually DO emphasize those words when I talk.
IF YOU'RE GONNA' READ MY JOURNAL, GROW A SENSE OF HUMOR!
bring y'all up to speed
I'm working on "object spanning database transactions". If you look at the L'ane code, each class is a little island. I hope this change will increase the speed of the system and will allow cross-object db transactions.
Yesterday I decided to take a look at the UnifiedPOS (on what JavaPOS and OLE for POS are based) docs. Ick, like a thousand pages of UML diagrams. Needless to say, I didn't get very far there. (this research is for the event model)
In the begining...
I kinda' hope typing in a public journal will spur me to keep active w/my Perl projects. OH, it's at http://l-ane.sf.net/
. Yah, yah, it's a boring business application, but I like it DAMN IT. Can I type profanity in my journal here? hmm
There are two things here. First, after getting a new job and moving, I kinda' put L'anePOS on the backburner. Well, I've lived here for a few months, so I can't use that as an excuse any more. Then came Xmas and New Years...I'm running out of holidays with which to procrastinate BUT TODAY'S Martin Luther King, Jr Day in Illinois.
;) Second, the changes I'm working on are rather large, so even as I HAVE been working (I swear) on L'anePOS, it doesn't LOOK like I have (no new code, etc).
