So today at lunch, I'm waiting patiently while a friend runs in to her bank to attend to some sort of business. I remember that I needed to call someone, so I pull out the trusty cell phone I got about a month ago (against my better judgement). I finally caved in to one of those perky Sprint PCS salespeople at Fry's. Anyway, I take it from my pocket, only to see that I am currently in an "Analog Roaming" zone. Bummer.
Then I watch, somewhat amusedly, as the signal strength gradually drops to zero, the signal then switches to "Digital Roaming", then quickly switches to a normal signal, whose strength slowly moves up from 1 to 4 (on their LCD display).
Mind you, the whole time I observed this, I was sitting motionless in a stationary car. I'm sure there are very valid technical explanations for this, but I found it wholly amusing all the same.
Of course, the person I was calling wasn't at home.
