Today is my last workday for two weeks so I'm trying to get as much coding done before I leave today as I can. I'd be lying if I said I was being 100% productive though. Still, I finished work on a short notice project this morning and handed the programs over to QA instead of dumping the code on a co-worker to finish - so that's good at least.
These are the things I'm wondering about:
I wonder how it will feel not coding for two weeks? I wonder how it will feel not going online for two weeks? I wonder how long it will take to read everyone's journals that have accumulated over 2 weeks?
Most of all though, I wonder how amazingly crap I'll be at typing after not touching a keyboard for two weeks?
Yep, I did actually get up and watch the England-Argentina game this morning. With matchsticks holding eyelids open and coffee in hand I was treated to a nice little footie game. Hey that Teddy Sheringham bloke almost scored an absolute cracker within minutes of coming on. Spurs player of course...
...temporarily unsubscribe from the plethora of mailing lists I'm on. Learned that lesson the hard way the last time I went on holiday for 2 weeks
Number of lines of code written: 0.
Number of lines of documentation written: shit load.
Amount of fun had at work thus far: none whatsoever
Amount of times wished it was time to go home: 57
Documentation is evil I tell ya
A neccessary evil, but evil nonetheless
Our Senior Manager just sent round an e-mail informing us that we can wear jeans to work for the summer (now -> August 31). I'm not quite sure what prompted this drastic change in corporate dress code policy especially since I work for $LARGE_COMPANY. Probabaly some attempt at "morale boosting" or something.
Hmm, could be a windup.
UPDATE: No, it's not in fact a windup but 100% true - cool.
From the "they don't make games like this anymore" dept:
My Wife and I (sad video gamers that we are) dusted off a rather beaten-up Super NES yesterday to play a couple of 1992/1993 Squaresoft classics. We somehow got totally involved in Secret Of Mana and the hours flew by. Good fun was had by all
If you're really bored and want to waste a few mintutes of your precious time, here are a few pix of my kids
So I gave up. So plan B was put into action. I'm just bummed that I wasted a day farting around with Image::Magick - sigh.
 GD on linux.
I'm having all kinds of fun installing Image::Magick on my Wife's WinXP box - not. DLL hell.
I don't have time to mess with it anymore this morning.
