Dual-Boot Fun

[ #1320 ]

The development ticketing system we use here at work is a Windows app that some genius purchased with Y2K money [1]. It's really rather frustrating having to re-boot my laptop to get to Windows to use the bloody thing. The data itself is housed in an Oracle database on an NT box. I'm really tempted to see if I can get to my stuff by writing a little app of my own using DBI & DBD::Oracle. I know one of my co-workers tried a while back but got pissed off because of the flakey & downright bizarre table structure.

Or I'm going to take a serious look at WINE or VMWare to see if I can run the Windows app from Linux. Hmm...

[1] One of my predecessors wrote quite a nice cgi app that the development group used as a ticketing system. Had a cool MySQL back end and everything. Sigh.
