  • ...in that the Treasure Planet apparently sucks raw eggs and is a financial flop, while the Treasure Island of course is a classic, and shall be.

    But yes, Disney ripping off (and mutilating) old folk and fairy tales (Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, ...), or classic kids/teen literature (Pooh, Peter Pan, Little Mermaid, Tarzan, ...) or more recent anime (Lion King), and then whining about extending copyrights, is pretty disgusting.
    • I took William to see Treasure Planet. It's remarkably close to the original (except for that whole space thing). So close, in fact, that you wonder "why would I want to see this instead of the original?" And the two main characters (pouting preteen and the caricature rough Irishman) were both repellant. It's a shame that so many talented people wasted their time polishing a turd of an idea.
