I am not a trademark lawyer, and I do not speak in any official capacity, but I can't see how an origami camel could be confusing and could possibly affect the Perl camel trademark.

  I vaguely remembered that someone had probably gone well beyond me about this, and I finally remembered that it was Erudil [perlmonks.org] on Perl Monks [perlmonks.org]. In particular, this wonderful post of his [perlmonks.org] includes the following notice (bold added by me):
  The use of the llama image in association with Perl is a trademark of O'Reilly & Associates, Inc. Used with permission.
  So, I was wondering if I had to actually ask for permission to put such an "associating Perl and a Camel" post here, or if it sufficed to include the link to O'Reilly policy. Just to try and remain on the safe side. Thank you for your non-offical-but-encouraging feedback anyway!
