Concerning wrapping (Score:1)
Here's something that may come in handy for you:
Mattia and I are working on splitting out the XS++ tool from Wx that defines C++ Perl interfaces as XS does for C Perl. The result will be called ExtUtils::XSpp.
There's early releases on CPAN, but in the coming days, there'll be more robust releases: http://search.cpan.org/dist/ExtUtils-XSpp/ [cpan.org]
