I recommend a visit over to pcstats [pcstats.com] to do some tweaking. I'm not sure what SP2 does, but I still think there a couple of services you'll want to disable.

using XP Firewall and IE is most definately not safe, even with SP2.
I would hope you had a decent firewall (either a *nix box or h/w) between XP and the internet. You can get nice 3 in 1 router/modem/firewalls for about half a ton, these offer real packet filtering rather than just blocking a couple of ports.
IE is still very insecure, and is several years behind decent browsers like firefox.
