No, not pizza and cola. It's actually the title of a great book on weight loss/management by John Walker, the founder of Autodesk. It treats weight loss as an engineering problem -- a great lifehack.
Best of all, it's free online: Hacker's Diet [fourmilab.ch].
It was the centerpiece of my losing 50 lbs a couple years back.

Once I've dealt with the short term pangs associatted with those items, I'll be in a better position to focus on the remaining issues w

Thank you. It really hit me how big a change it was when I was carrying home two 20lb bags of charcoal one day and thinking that they were really damn heavy and that I used to do that every day.
Finding ways to cut out sugary beverages really helped me. For example, I used to drink a lot of orange juice. Losing a pound a week means taking in 500 calories less each day than your body burns. That's only two glasses of orange juice. (Or two cans of non-diet soda). Those little things between meals reall

About nine months ago, I took the plunge and started at my kids' karate school. I love it. I'm in much better physical (and mental) shape, and the bonus is that I don't look for excuses. As a matter of fact, I hate missing class!

First of all, kudos to you. It sounds like you've found what you enjoy doing and it's very beneficial. Second, you did read the first part of that paragraph, right? Where I said, "I love walking"?
:-)I'm not discounting walking -- it's fun and I still do it regularly -- and I agree with your reasons. What I said was, "it wasn't enough ", and I guess I should have added "for me".
