  • I really like spod5 [cpan.org] by Philipe Bruhat to convert POD to S5. Placing images is a bit unwieldly, but if you want exact image placement, you can just include the raw HTML to display an image at a given position.

    The fun thing with S5 is that you can get automatic (bad) translations for talks using any of the web translation services, as the whole slideshow is just one HTML page.

    German version [datenzoo.de], hilarity ensues [altavista.com]

    • That looks cool, but I won't be using it. One of my requirements is that I be able to display a fairly tricky 4x4 table fairly easily. I know how to draw it in HTML. I don't in POD. :-)
      • Aah - the nice thing is that you can embed the HTML into the POD and have the best of the two worlds:

        =for html
            <table>
                <tr>...</tr>
                <tr>...</tr>
                <tr>...</tr>
            </table>

        ... of course, you could also go for the good old ASCII graphics :)

        • True, that.

          But given how much is already written in HTML, it would be more work to rewrite in POD than to continue forward. So I'll continue forward. :-)
