  • I'm selling my Thinkpad T20 for $450:

    It ran Fedora Core 2 quite well, particularly once I switched from Gnome to XFCE. The T20 is actually one of the very small group of laptops that shipped with Linux installed, so the hardware support is quite good. I even got suspend to disk working!

    • I am in talks for my first actual paid Perl job. Hopefully I will get it. If I do, I am thinking I will need a laptop. I have an iBook for my personal use but since the company uses Linux I thought being closer to the setup would probably help me. While OSX is based on BSD it does have some oddities.

      • I have made dual boot Linux/OS X work fine with Debian and Gentoo.

        • Can I do that without wipeing out my current setup? I have never looked into dual booting OSX.

          • That I don't know. I think even over in the Windows world attempting to preserve a current setup and install a dual-boot system is iffy, and I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't possible for Mac. :(
