  • I can't speak to the quality of the Head First book, but one of the books that's helped me the most has been the "Gang of Four"'s Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software [amazon.com].

    It's not so much a philosophical treatise on the merits of OOP, but a fantastic reference to the 20 or so patterns which cover pretty much all OOP systems/workflows.
