  • My experience, being German-by-origin (but Greek-by-ancestry), doesn’t quite match up with that. If you step outside those cities, it gets really hard to sustain any sort of group.

    I tried to run one here in Cologne, which eventually became cologne.pm [pm.org], but while the group isn’t as dead as its website, it’s just barely on this side of death.

    I feel terribly lonely in my geekiness…

    • I think, some Perlmonger-groups should do some kind of "Marketing". I think Dresden.pm makes a good job. They provide a Perl-Talk (Tutorial) at the Linux-Day in Dresden, so they are in the public's mind.

      Frankfurt.pm is currently growing. I think this is a result of the activies. Not in "Marketing" like the Dresden.pm does, but the members are very active at the base:
      One of them is the webmaster of Perl-Community.de, that provides a Wiki (FAQ, Perldoc (some in german) and some snippets), a Forum and lots
