    In regards to:

    Discovered the worst ever example of something ostensibly named "Felaffel" at the conference dinner. It had the consistency of sand and tasted like Sambucca...

    It's actually called Falafel [wikipedia.org]. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it, but it's actually very good in Israel in most places. At least when it's fresh after fried. My sister told me that in New Zealand it was referred to as "Vegetarian Kebab".

      I know what Falafel (excuse my spelling) is, and what it's supposed to taste like, in fact I've had very very good Falafel from time to time.

      What I meant was, rather, that THEY ostensibly named something Falafel that had very litle resemblance to it.

    • As a New Zealander, I can assure you we call it 'Falafel' :-)
