Chicago weather (Score:1)
One thing I learned working at the airline: one of the dispatchers once explained how weather in a seemingly-unrelated city affects your flight. One of the parts of a flight plan is the "where are we gonna land if something goes wrong" plan.
It's been too many years (ten in a few weeks) but I think there is a limit on the number of planes that can list a given airport as an alternate, so if Chicago wx is bad flights that would otherwise pick it bump to, say, MCI, and then flights that get crowded out pick DF
Awful airlines (Score:1)
Wow! I knew you had a hard time with the airline, but I didn't know you were sleeping on the floor. That made my six hour delay look like luxury!
I'm still looking forward to getting home; I'm in LAX right now, although it looks like my flight will be leaving very soon.
A pleasure meeting you at OSCON 2008, and I look forward to seeing you again at OSCON 2009 (or sooner).
