  • It doesn't matter whether you believe TIOBE or not. The fact is that new programmers are not even thinking about Perl. The only time they go look up Perl is if there's some "legacy" code in their jobs that's being thrown at them. Ovid is dead on. We innovate or we die! I learned Perl in 1996. Guess what, not a whole lot has changed since then. I still write Perl b/c I love it but I don't do any more Web apps in Perl and I don't ask my guys to use Perl for web apps. Most of them go with PHP or Java/JSP
