I thought you had mistaken me for the presenter of "Perl Testing", and the email sounded like you were telling me that you were interested in attending. Had I have not previously noticed the hash for a middle name, I would have really been confused.
Out of curiosity, am I correct in assuming that how well you know someone plays a big part in your selection? For example, I had a nice talk about securing PHP sessions lined up. If Rasmus had submitted a proposal on the same topic, it makes perfect sense to select his instead, because he attracts more people. Does the marketability of a person play a large role? Just curious.
And yes, I'm a PHP guy hanging out in use.perl. Don't shoot me.

I ended up writing a lot about how being a name influences the decision making, and what the decision making looks like. (Warning: it's like sausage and law). Anyway, I posted it as a journal entry [perl.org] instead of a comment. I hope this answers your question.
