  • I completely agree that my comment regarding cryptography was not sensible. I wrote that quickly and really should have thought through what I was saying in that bit. As for the rest, we could debate back and forth, but it doesn't solve the underlying problem. Software manufacturers have little liability other than bad press for the crap they produce. Billions of dollars are being lost and software companies do little more than shrug. I do agree that this is not an easy issue to solve, but I don't thin

    • The key problem is that the current situation is unacceptable, and so are all of the proposed solutions. (Yes, as an industry, this debate has been raging for at least 20 years, from what I've seen. A lot of smart people have come up with a lot of proposals that have all sucked in one way or another.)
