  • I've always gotten that from potatoes, mashed, fried, baked or otherwise.

    I assumed it was like that for anybody. Are potatoes really so neutral in terms of stomach acid production?

    (Hm. Well, I'm not normal in stomach acid production terms anyway, so...)

    • While I have ocassional heartburn or reflux when I'm not doping up on 'roids, I've _never_ experienced a problem with potatoes under normal circumstances. The triggers for more are usually lots of oil, lots of spices, and lots of acid (tomatoes can be painful at times) or hot peppers.

      Thai food can really kick my butt because a coconut milk based curry can be all of those. But potatoes that aren't really oily are never a problem.
