  • there's also a precedent: one section of Perl 6 Essentials [oreilly.com] (at a rough guess, the one Allison is to blame for) also uses H2G2 characters (and the ubiquitous 42) in examples.

  • I should express my heuristic ignorance: I saw H2G2 on TV as a kid but I've never read the books. I offended hex last year by walking past Hot Black Desiato in Camden and missing the point. I'm not a proper geek. :(

    I read the Badger Book and I still managed to understand which parts of it came from Douglas Adams. Still, there weren't enough vampires.
