The Slashdumb Effect (Score:2)
/. seems to reflect society as a whole. There's often quite a bit of rational discussion about the merits of the hype du jour, but it's lost in the sheer volume of knee-jerk responses. It's frustrating because I read /. to try and keep up with the latest of tech news of things that aren't Perl, but sometimes the most interesting replies aren't even modded up because they're not obviously trolls or humor.
