:h netrwfor the documentation.I also discovered this by accident, but in a context that irritates me: if I'm composing an e-mail in Vim running in a Gnome Terminal and it's in insert mode then I can drag the icon from just to the left of the URL in Firefox, drop it into the terminal, and the URL gets inserted into the mail, which is great. But if I'm running Vim with its gui and I try this, rather than inserting the URL Vim starts trying to download and edit

emacs is consistent whether it's running in a terminal or talking directly to the GUI. This is most unexpected :-)
