Like how you're saying programmers think analytically, I agree that it's really important to realize that different people think differently than you, and that these ways of thinking aren't necessarily inferior or superior. For example, Organics vs. Mechanics [randsinrepose.com], or the different Myers-Briggs personality types [wikipedia.org]. (Whether you agree exactly with the categorizations, I think the important point is that there are different kinds of personalities that we should keep in mind.)

If we make something of the idea of it being a form of 'engineering' and at the same time sneer at engineers, what about, 'Software engineering: social engineering for engineers,' or 'Software engineering: social engineering for those without social skills.'
We can see the historical development of computer languages as something started by engineers but being taken out of their hands by people
