People keep saying that icebergs melting will increase the sea level, but the truth [allforums.net] is that a melted iceberg takes just as much space underwater as it did before melting.
You don't need to know much about ice to understand this. Ice takes up more space than the water it contains.
Try putting a bottle of water (preferably a plastic bottle) on the refrigerator until it freezes... It will probably crack.
When the icebergs melt, the ice turned into water takes up the space it was filling under water... and that's it!!
Now if they were talking about the atmosphere decreasing, or something like that... cof, cof :-)
