I went to my local Walgreens and purchased a cheap water pistol. Best $1.99 I ever spent as my cats do not now jump on the stove.

  Don't you mean, they don't jump on the stove/counter/etc when you're around? ;-) I know it certainly applies to my cats...
  Everytime I see them somewhere they shouldn't be, I push them off. But either they're really stupid, or really stubborn. Personally, I think it's stubbornness.
