  Next time, I will get someone else to do it, and/or replace the cumbersome shovel with some sort of labor-saving device with an array of viciously efficient whirling blades that atomize anything they touch, be it grass, roots, peat, soil, muddy water, or any conceivable mix of these things. I require this ease of destruction for my gardening/terraforming.

      You'll need to learn to walk backward whilst simultaneously avoiding tilling your feet. :)

      The tines might get fouled if you are too zealous, but they can be removed, cleaned, and re-installed in short order.
