That comparison between LaTeX and Perl made me wonder: which came first? CTAN [ctan.org] or CPAN? I knew TeX and CPAN first than Perl, but nowadays I don't use [La]TeX anymore. I knew it is evolving yet, even with help/collaboration from Lua which is key to the new pdftex.

  Let's check that. According to this [ctan.org] CTAN was thought up in 1991 and started in 1992. According to wikipedia [wikipedia.org], CPAN was founded in 1995.

In fact, I've learned LaTeX first than Perl, and I love it. In a next YAPC::EU I could attend I might talk about LaTeX and Perl together. Meanwhile, Allison, do you need reviewers for your book? *shame*
