    Funny, I remember the theme to Hawaii Five-O having a lot more brass than guitar...

    (This reminds me that I need to go digging for some Dick Dale. Nothing like surf guitar to brighten up a cold December evening...)

    • Yes, it had a lot of brass. It's a bit atypical of their normal sound ... but then again, they had a lot of different sounds. The album "(The) Ventures in Space" is not typical surf rock either. You should hear their rendition of the theme from Twilight Zone. :) Also, I wonder if for the show, they didn't rerecord it with more horns than on their album, because there's a lot of guitar in it there. The mind plays funny tricks, who knows?
