  why does mozilla 1.1 rendering look so much different to Chimera's? I switched both to my favourite font (Gils Sans) and chimera's rendering of it is lovely and dark and clear, whereas mozilla's is very thin.
  
  Still, I might just switch for mozilla's superior mailer.

  When you say open new URLs what do you mean? There are preferences (look under tabbed browsing) so that when you click on a link with the command key pressed or enter a URL in the location bar and hit (I think) command-Enter the URL opens in a new tab. The open web location dialog also has a menu where you can choose where to open the URL.

    I mean an external application requesting to open a new URL through Internet Config. Things like openurl http://use.perl.org/ or selecting the NetNewsWire Lite Website menu option in NetNewsWire Lite.

    Chimera has an option to open these in a new tab instead of a new window. I open up a lot of new URLs externally that way, and Mozilla clutters up the desktop with many new windows, while Chimera didn't (but would get confused after the first five or ten).

  The latest nightly builds of Chimera are much nicer than 0.4; in particular on jaguar where 0.4 made me revert to MSIE more often than I care to admit.

    So it would seem. MacNN reports [macnn.com] that Chimera v0.5 [mozilla.org] is available through the nightly builds.
