    Similarly with the myths that the etymologies of "rule of thumb" [debunker.com] and "picnic" [quinion.com] relate to wife beating and lynching, respectively. Or the myth that Charles Drew [urbanlegends.com], a pioneer in blood transfusion, bled to death because of racism (that one also has the advantage of being a good story). Or the myth that returning Vietnam veterans were spat on [thevoicenews.com] by antiwar protesters.
