Perhaps that's unfair. Well, someone else somewhere pointed out the extreme unlikelihood of being able to replace components...is that a valid point to bring up?

Yes, but Jobs demonstrated how memory upgrades are actually quite simple. You pop a cover on the bottom off and it's right there. Dunno about HD, let alone CPU etc. But it doesn't matter. iMacs are not bought by people who upgrade anything but RAM, in general.
