  • The thing I lament is when good tools become available for other languages and not for Perl itself.

    As a recent example, there is a standalone IDE based on Netbeans for Python and/or you can code Ruby, Groovy, Python in the standard Netbeans IDE. No Perl. All the big IDE platforms support everything and their moma but not Perl (eclispe does have EPIC but...).
