  I assume this is nerf/boffer "sword" not sharp steel. :-) I would have preferred this approach to the Hobbes-like flying tackle I endured for a few years. Sounds like a young squire who would have fit my daughter's sci-fi con ratpack a decade back. Are you raising him in the SCA or SF-fandom ?

      SCA = Society_for_Creative_Anachronism [wikipedia.org] , not a reenactment group so much as sci fi fandom with the dates rolling backwards. Muchly found in college towns and tech centres, but elsewhere also.

        Well knights are in and my oldest son was dressed up as a knight for fastelavn (local festival), my youngest son as a bumble bee. We do however also play with Lego Exo-Force [exo-force.com], which is more sci-fi, so I guess we go for everything fun and enjoyable.
