    I noticed a few years ago that Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary doesn't have the definition of "potluck" that you (and I) use, but I see that the current edition has added it [m-w.com] as definition 1b. I wonder how new the meaning is, and whether there's been any influence from "potlatch" (though that's probably a stretch).
