Sorry about your woes. Can you not return your printer? You could try a plain PS (emulation) laser printer w/ USB|parallel port (olde Lexmark Optra 310 here; enscript [codento.com] converts plain text to PS) and hook it to print server (SMC 4-port consumer router in my version).

Even though my printer has been working fine, I have been casually looking for cheap duplex laser printer, which is hard to come by for < USD300.

I'd like a tiny little one (like the 2060N I had briefly) but this one isn't *too* unwieldy. Anyway, under $200, and it does PostScript and Ethernet. Saving up >=)
