If we make something of the idea of it being a form of 'engineering' and at the same time sneer at engineers, what about, 'Software engineering: social engineering for engineers,' or 'Software engineering: social engineering for those without social skills.'
We can see the historical development of computer languages as something started by engineers but being taken out of their hands by people-oriented people. Larry Wall is a good example.
There must be a joke in the idea of threatening the engineers with being made a member of his team at work.
