      More seriously the goal for 5.6.2 is very modest : to modernize its compilation system (gcc 3 compatibility, recognize recent OSes such as AIX 5 or OpenUNIX 8, recognize recent libs such as recent Berkeley DB) and upgrade a few core modules that have been proven to work with perl 5.6.1. And release 5.6.2 fast, in order to prove to the world that the perl community is able to maintain older versions.
