  Thats the great thing about the news,there are plenty of points of views to go around.
  
  You can look at the elections in Iraq and all that people power going on around Russia and its all good. On the other hand apparently childhood malnutrition in Iraq has doubled since the american invasion , the newly elected parliament has only met twice and the old appointed government is really still in charge.
  
  Pakistan is cooperating against muslim extremists but its not quite a democracy and its getting fighter jets to help it fight the worlds largest democracy. Then again Pakistan and India are relatively chummy these days so maybe they will only get used in air shows.
  
  China is slightly more relaxed about personal freedom but then again it might just launch an all out invasion of Taiwan.
  
  Israel is pulling out of chunk of land it does or does not have rights to be in but its keeping the other more populated one.
  
  All swings and roundabouts,ups and downs. Makes me look forward to reading about my lifetime in a history book so I can see what really was going on :)

    I am not saying the world is doing great. There are always huge problems, that's my real point. My personal feeling is always generally optimistic, however, because I think that despite the problems, we keep improving overall. Some may feel the opposite, I just don't believe this feeling is any more or less pervasive now than at most, if any, other times.
