It's more like an amalgam of human behavioural science, politics, civics and history. The economic principles popular today for predicting world markets may also be applied to the perl proletariat and the occasionally benevolent parliament.
So, you either make the right friends at the right time, engineer a swelling of social acceptance that may lead to the aforementioned or you have the conviction of an idea whose time may yet come....or not.
