  • The never show such things in Germany. :-(

I wonder however: Are those TV-adaptations of Agatha Christie any good? I've seen a couple of them, particularly those with Peter Ustinov ("Death on the Nile") and "Murder on the Orient Express" with Albert Finney and a good supporting cast.

Still, none even came close to the books which I think are masterpieces in every respect. There's one novel I'd love to see a movie adaptation of: "And then there were none" (formerly known as "Ten little Niggers"). There's no Hercule Poirot in there unfortunately, but a decent director could turn this into a very suspensful thriller you'd not easily forget.

Hmmh, imdb.com tells me that there seems to be a good adaptation from the year 1945. I have to see whether I can find it somewhere.
    • I remember seeing the Peter Ustinov ones at some point but the one I saw yesterday has David Suchet as Poirot. IMHO it's quite good but still no real match for the books. Agatha Christie always tells quite a detailed story and I seem to miss some of it in the TV versions.
