While I can't claim the most harassment by Winer (there are surely several others who have suffered worse than I, but Rael Dornfest probably wins the overall prize), I am beyond being surprised by his rantings. Well, I thought I was. This one was pretty fresh.

I don't know how much this plays into his motivations, but one area that has irked him to no end is the fact that having used the GPL for licensing the XML-RPC specification has meant that just anyone can implement it. And lots of people have, whom he seems to wish wouldn't. Like, say, me.

It seems to me as though he has counted on ego and reputation to carry him and his so-called company's product through. As the latter diminishes, he seems to be trying to boost the former, so as to maintain the overall "product" (pun intentional).
