Thanks for the write-up!. I have never heard of the ICFP contest, but after reading your post and checking out of the website it looks really interesting. I remember when I first encountered functional programming in high school, I was blown away by recursion. I had used simple recursion before, but with functional programming I was able to glimpse the real power of it all. At any rate, since the contest is during the summer, I'd probably be able to devote time to it next year. :-)
