  • My latest project sees me running a network of phone-connected embedded devices. Current we've rolled out about 5, we're heading for 100+

Even with the 5 of them (identical hardware, identical network, carrier and plans) there is an obvious variability with location and antenna.

From our worst to our best, I'm seeing around a 10 to 1 ratio.

Last night, our worst machine took 35 minutes to pull a 3 meg file (I'm frankly amazed it held up for that long).

Our best connection can pull it in a few minutes.

It may well be you are in a crap area signal wise.
    • That's almost promising. What I'm really looking for is a significant improvement in the average speed I get on the road between ABE and PHL. Of course, my tests last night were in Bethlehem, which is where I expect to get the second best speeds. It's a pretty dense area of coverage.

Then again, if it turns out that I get better coverage on the turnpike outside Podunksville, so be it!
